Crabgrass

Crabgrass is a grassy looking weed that forms dense mats. It is somewhat similar in appearance to some of the dwarf St. Augustinegrass cultivars. Crabgrass prefers areas where turfgrass stands are weak or stressed. Proper mowing, irrigation, and fertilization are important to maintaining healthy turf and preventing crabgrass.

All of our customers receive a spring time pre-emergent herbicide application to help suppress spring and summer annual germination, including crabgrass. While it provides about 60 days of pre-emergent control, it is a limited use tool. Repeated use of pre-emergence herbicides can result in injury to desirable turf.

We include selective, post emergent crabgrass control with our Premium Service program. Basic Service customers can elect to have this done as an optional treatment. Best results occur when applied between mowings and during the active growing season.
